Consulate Event

An afternoon with the ex-pat Italians at the Italian consulate. ChefMéd had a catering job there today. One of the long-term staff members had her retirement party. It was a very different experience to events I have been to! People were dancing and there was someone from the office actually entertaining everyone with a drum. They live here, but they have managed to preserve their ancient traditions. In Italy, the family and social culture is so strong, and they have kept it up, but it does feel like a very different way of life. I spoke to so many and my Italian has improved. It was great to see that Marco Villani, the Console Generale D’ Italia, gave his time to join in as well.
