From absorption to excretion, and everything inbetween … that’s what the science of nutrition is all about. But for those of us who just want to have a healthy diet, nutrition means being aware of the food we eat and how our diet affects our body and health.
So, what is ChefMéd’s Mission Nutrition?
Let’s start with a short quiz… you can find the answers on the Nutrition pages of our website… or watch out for them in our next blog post.
1. Which of these is an oily fish? Trout, Plaice, Haddock, Sardines, Mackerel
2. What’s the name of the polyunsaturated fats that the Mediterranean diet is rich in?
3. Can you name a condition that Olive Oil can help to combat
4. Which fruits are rich in flavonoids?
5. In fact, what are flavonoids?
6. Which nut is really a fruit?
Mission Nutrition is our mission to help you become more aware of how important it is to have a balanced healthy diet the Mediterranean way. Check out our Nutrition pages where you’ll find lots of really useful information.
Unlike some Mediterranean Diet websites, we give you the facts and figures on nutrition as well as recipes and products to buy through our shop. We provide separate pages for the different types of food that form the basis of the Mediterranean diet to make it easier for you to find the nutrition information you’re looking for and bookmark that page.
Red meat and sweets may be something you enjoy eating but too much of them can have adverse effects on your health, not to mention your weight! You don’t need to remove them from your diet altogether, just moderate them and restrict how often you eat them – check out our Pyramid blog post for more information.
Mission Nutrition says… with apologies to Simon Armitage:
🍴Be picking chicken
🍴Be astute with fruit
🍴Oily fish should be your dish
🍴Pledge to veg
🍴Better toil with olive oil
🍴The right cheese is the bee’s knees
🍴Peg your eggs
🍴Time for Thyme
🍴Our guts like nuts
How did you do with the quiz? Don’t worry if you didn’t get them all right. You can always check out the answers on our Nutrition pages and set the quiz for someone else and see how well they do. That way you can become a Mission Nutrition Magician … sorry, couldn’t resist that!
